Professor Sanjeev Handa

Professor Handa graduated MBBS in 1987 from the Government Medical College, Patiala, Punjab and MD in 1990 in Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, India. He is a Fellow, Academy of Medical Sciences, India and was awarded Fellowship, American Academy of Dermatology in 2003 and Fellow, Royal College of Physicians (Edin) in 2011.

He was appointed President, Contact and Occupational Dermatoses Forum of India from 2011 to 2014 and hosted the APEODS meeting in Chandigarh in 2011. He has also been Vice President, Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists (Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh Branch, 2010-11 and was President, President, Punjab, Chandigarh & HP Branch of IADVL 2016.

He has served on both EADV and ACDS task forces and has also received numerous awards including the IADVL Prof L K Bhutani Award – for teaching and research in Dermatology 2015.

His research has included studies on the sensitizing potential of orthopaedic implants, contact sensitization to hair colours in acquired dermal macular hyperpigmentation, Filaggrin gene mutations in hand eczema patients in the Indian subcontinent, and patch testing with a commercially available plant allergen series in north Indian patients.
