Professor Iris Ale
Iris Ale is Professor of Allergy and Dermatology at the Republic University of Uruguay and oversees the academic activities for residents in both the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University Hospital. She is specialist in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Dermatology, Intensive Care Medicine and Neuroimmunoendocrinology. She pursued doctoral studies in Occupational and Environmental Dermatology at the University of Louvain in Belgium with Professor Jean Marie Lachapelle and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Dermato-allergology and Dermatotoxicology at the University of California in San Francisco with Professor Howard Maibach. She also performed doctoral studies in Medical Education and currently works as a Peer Evaluator of Careers and Faculties of Medicine in South America. At the present she is the Chair of the Committee on Cutaneous Allergy and Occupational Dermatology of the Ibero Latin American College of Dermatology, Chair of the Cutaneous Allergy Committee of the South American Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology and President of the Uruguayan Society of Allergy and Immunology. She received the Fulbright Fellowship Award, Lectureship Awards from the World Allergy Organization, the South American Organization and Accreditation System for University Careers, and the International Labor Organization as well as the Great National Medicine Award from the Uruguayan Academy of Medicine. Dr. Ale has been member of the ICDRG since 1995 and organized the 20th International Symposium of the ICDRG in Montevideo, Uruguay in 2001.
